  • How are packages shipped?
    All packages are shipped in the continental U.S. via FedEx or UPS Standard Overnight Shipping with ice packs in a heavy-duty foam chest. Orders placed after 11:59pm MT on Wednesday’s will ship the following week.
  • What salmon species do you smoke?
    We smoke BAP or ASC ocean farm-raised Atlantic salmon.
  • Where can I find the Best By date on your package?
    On Honey Smoked Salmon® packages, the Best By date and Lot Code is located at the very top or very bottom on the backside of the package. Alternatively, it could be placed on a sticker in the window of the package.
    On the Honey Smoked Salmon® Spread & Dips, the Best By and Lot Code is located on the bottom of the tub.
    On the Honey Smoked Salmon Stackers, the Best By and Lot Code is located on the back of the package.
  • Is your salmon considered lox?
    No, our salmon is hot smoked whereas traditional lox are ‘cold smoked’. Our hot smoked salmon is wet brined then smoked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees (F). Lox, or cold smoked salmon, are cured with salt and are smoked at lower temperatures. Lox retains more features of a raw salmon fillet whereas hot smoked salmon is more flakey in texture.

  • Your website shows your products are sold at a retailer near me, but when I went in they had nothing in stock.
    Unfortunately, the information available on our website is only as good as what our customers provide us. While we do not have visibility to updated inventory levels at stores, we suggest contacting the seafood manager at that store ahead of time to check their stock. If your store is out of Honey Smoked Salmon® for an extended period of time, please email questions@honeysmokedfish.com
  • Can I heat up Honey Smoked Salmon®?
    Our salmon is best enjoyed at room temperature. We recommend removing the product from the refrigerator and package 20-25 minutes prior to serving. Enjoy your salmon warm? Use the residual heat from the dish you are preparing to naturally warm the salmon. For example, flaking the salmon on top of pizza or pasta. However, if you prefer to heat it in the oven, you can wrap in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes.

    Honey Smoked Salmon® contains 1200mg of Omega-3’s and 12g of protein per 2oz serving. In addition, Honey Smoked Salmon is a good source of Vitamin D – roughly 30% of your daily Recommended Value.

  • Where can I find the Nutrition Facts Panel on your product?
    You can find the Nutritional Facts Panel on all Honey Smoked Fish Co. products. The NFP (Nutritional Facts Panel) is located on the backside of the package. If you are shopping online, you can find the NFP’s listed on every product page.

  • Is Honey Smoked Salmon® farm-raised or wild caught?
    All of our salmon is sourced from Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) or Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified ocean farms. Each third-party aquaculture certifier evaluates ocean farms to ensure they are adhering to strict regulatory standards. These standards include but are not limited to water quality, responsible sourcing of feed, disease prevention, animal welfare, fair treatment and pay of employees, and maintaining positive relationships with neighboring communities.   • What is the difference between farm-raised and wild caught salmon?
    While overfishing has become a significant issue with wild caught salmon, our ocean farm-raised Atlantic salmon stock is stable and raised under 3rd party certified guidelines for environmental, food safety, and social accountability, making Honey Smoked Salmon more affordable, consistently delicious, and better for the earth all year round.

    Yes, Honey Smoked Salmon is KOF-K Parve (Kosher certified). Our KOF-K certification # is 1689.

    All Honey Smoked Salmon® products are Certified Gluten Free by the GFCO.
  • Do your products contain added sugar?
    Some of our flavors have a small amount of sugar added due to the spices we use. Please see each individual label for more information. Nutrition Labels can be found for each Honey Smoked Salmon® flavor on our shop page.
  • Food Safety

  • Can you eat Honey Smoked Salmon® if you're pregnant?
    According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, salmon is considered a “Best Choice” among seafood and has relatively low mercury levels. The FDA also notes Fish intake during pregnancy is recommended because moderate scientific evidence shows it can help your baby’s cognitive development. However, please consult a medical professional if you are pregnant and have questions about consuming our product or salmon in general.

  • Does your product contain mercury?
    Our salmon are ocean farmed and therefore are subject to having varied amounts of mercury, like all seafood. In fact, Atlantic Salmon are on average lower in mercury than most popular game fish. We do always suggest that our consumers consult your healthcare professional regarding consumption of seafood if there are any concerns.
  • Can you eat Honey Smoked Salmon® right out of the package?
    Absolutely! That’s the best part of Honey Smoked Salmon®. Honey Smoked Salmon® is fully cooked and ready to eat, right out of the bag. However, Honey Smoked Salmon® must be refrigerated at 38 degrees (F) or below before consuming.
  • Are there color-added ingredients in the feed?
    Some Honey Smoked Fish Company® BAP or ASC certified suppliers use the FDA approved natural carotenoid colorant, Astaxanthin, in their feed. This carotenoid is identical to the types absorbed by salmon in the wild from eating krill and other planktonic organisms, and also provides antioxidant health benefits to consumers.
  • How long will my salmon remain fresh in the refrigerator?
    Honey Smoked Salmon® must be kept refrigerated at 38 degrees (F) or below. It will stay fresh in the package until the Best By date printed on the backside of the package. The Best By date and Lot Code is located at the very top or very bottom on the backside of the package. Alternatively, it could be placed on a sticker in the window of the package. Once opened, it will remain fresh for up to 5 days if properly stored in a container or bag in refrigeration.
  • Can you freeze Honey Smoked Salmon®?
    If unopened and within the 'best by' date, sealed product can be frozen (under 0 degrees Fahrenheit) for up to one year if frozen the day of purchase. Remove from package, thaw frozen product in the refrigerator under 38 degrees Fahrenheit to allow the moisture to reabsorb slowly and maintain flavor and texture. Consume immediately after thawing. Product that has been thawed cannot be refrozen.
  • What is the white substance that is sometimes on the fish fillets?
    The substance is called albumin, a perfectly safe congealing of intramuscular protein that may appear in salmon fillets when cooked at a high temperature. This intramuscular protein is no different than what would find such as in marbled cuts of beef.
  • I found an unopened package in my refrigerator and it’s past the best by date, is it still good?
    While we pride ourselves on the quality of our product, we cannot recommend consuming our product past the Best By date listed.
